A well-organised, year-based examination system meticulously designed to test both theoretical knowledge and practical skill — from Pre-Primary to Postgraduate.
The SSSP has a well-organised, year-based examination system, meticulously designed to test both theoretical knowledge and practical skill. Each stage of the curriculum builds systematically on the previous, guiding students from elementary foundations to advanced artistic mastery.
All tests are conducted under supervision by appointed moderators and examiners to ensure fairness and consistency of standards across all 7,000+ centres nationwide and internationally.
In the Parishad's philosophy, examinations are not merely tests — they are milestones along a lifetime process of sadhana (practice); a gentle unfolding of the artist's inner rhythm and voice.
Successful students receive official certificates and diplomas approved countrywide — recognised by five universities in West Bengal.
Appointed moderators and examiners ensure consistent standards across every affiliated centre in India and abroad.
Each stage has a Practical paper (performance, rhythm, presentation) and a Theory paper (notation, history, terminology).
An elite All India title examination beyond postgraduate — the highest distinction awarded by Sarbabharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad.
Each stage has a defined split between Theory and Practical marks. Higher stages carry more weight, reflecting the depth of mastery expected.

Each stage of the SSSP curriculum corresponds to a specific level of attainment, with formal certificates or diplomas awarded at key milestones.
Foundation — basic introduction to rhythm, notation, and elementary movement or vocalism.
Builds on PP-1 with slightly more complex taal patterns and expanded repertoire.
Final foundation stage — prepares students for the formal Primary examination with oral theory.
First formal written examination. Oral theory introduced. Development of repertoire, tone clarity, and expression.
Simple compositions, ragas, and rhythmic cycles. Building on fundamentals with guided practice.
Expanded repertoire, greater clarity of tone, expression and improvisation skills.
Advanced training — classical pieces, intricate artworks, and in-depth theoretical study.
Deeper engagement with form, expression, and improvisation — gateway to graduate level.
400-mark examination — full-length performance and written report. Command, imagination, and deep comprehension of tradition.
Advanced graduate study — mastery of classical form, musicology or choreography research.
Postgraduate — equivalent to a Master's qualification. Recognised by five universities in West Bengal.
All India Ratnamani Title — the highest distinction conferred by Sarbabharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad, open to postgraduate-level candidates.
Every SSSP examination (from Primary onwards) has two distinct papers, each testing a different dimension of the student's artistry.
Live performance of set pieces and compositions appropriate to the stage level
Demonstration of rhythm accuracy, taal cycles, and rhythmic improvisation
Assessment of presentation quality — posture, stage presence, and expression
At higher levels: improvisation (manodharma), full-length recital and original composition
Conducted in person at the affiliated centre before appointed SSSP examiners
Written examination testing knowledge of music/dance/art terminology and notation
History and evolution of the art form — gharanas, styles, prominent artists, and traditions
Stylistic features of the discipline including raga identification and tala theory
At Primary level: theory is conducted orally rather than in written form
From 5th Year onwards: two theory papers of 100 marks each (200 total)
